Magnesium Alloy Die Castings
Your Professional Magnesium Alloy Die Castings Supplier
Guangway Machinery is a leading industry player in making mechanical components. We have a focus in manufacturing and custom and want to provide our clients with specialized needs in a number of industries. The company's die castings include aluminum alloy die castings, zinc alloy die castings, magnesium alloy die castings. Die casting is a metal manufacturing process where molten metal is forced under high pressure into a mold (die) cavity, creating a solid, shaped part. This process is commonly used for producing complex, thin-walled parts with high precision and in large quantities. Our complete scope of services consists of forging, casting, CNC machining, and extrusions in copper, and it's all done to a high level and with a high level of precision.

Types of Magnesium Alloy Die Castings
Magnesium Alloy Die Castings for Automotive Parts
Magnesium alloy grades including AZ91D, AM60B etc., are most extensively used magnesium alloys for automobile die-casting. The tensile and corrosion-resistance properties of good quality are exhibited by AZ91D and it finds application for structural intensive parts.
Magnesium Alloy Die Castings for Electronics
The alloy material chemistry is closely regulated for the attainment of the required properties of the final material. High-purity magnesium alloy materials are utilized. The magnesium alloy ingots are molten under cover gas of e.g., a mixture of N₂ and SF₆ for avoiding magnesium combustion and oxidation. The type of alloy accurately controls the melting point but it ranges between 750 - 650°C generally.

General Process of Magnesium Alloy Die Castings

Thoroughly clean the surface
Any contaminants, such as oil, grease, or dirt, may affect the adhesion and quality of the coating. Therefore, the surface must be cleaned before surface treatment. The surface may also need pretreatment, such as sandblasting or grinding, to ensure it is smooth and free of defects.
Choose the appropriate finishing method
The choice of the finishing method depends on many factors, including functionality, aesthetics, environmental factors, and cost. The selected method should have the required performance, such as corrosion resistance, durability, and visual appeal.
Quality control and inspection
Monitoring the quality of the surface finish throughout the process is crucial to ensure it meets the required specifications. This involves using appropriate measuring and testing equipment and adhering to industry standards for surface finish quality.
Surface Treatment of Magnesium Alloy Die Castings
Anodizing is a surface treatment applicable in decorating and improving the functional properties of nonferrous materials such as aluminum, magnesium, and zinc. It is an electrochemical process, making the metal durable and corrosion/scratch-resistant. There are three types of aluminum anodizing, namely Type I, Type II, and Type III.
Type 1 Anodizing
This anodizing uses chromic acid and can create the thinnest anodic oxide surface (at least 0.0001inches). Aluminum die casts subjected to this process are carrion resistant and slightly dyeable.
Type 2 Anodizing
This process involves sulfuric acid, which is stronger and creates a thicker surface (about 0.0002 – 0.001). Aluminum die casting subjected to this anodizing becomes corrosion resistant and is highly dyeable.
Type 3 or Hardcoat Anodizing
This also uses sulfuric acid but a higher electric current. Hence die casts subjected to this anodizing have thicker anodic oxide layers (>0.001), are corrosion and abrasion-resistant, and with the highest dyeing potential.
